Months Seven & Eight

Months seven and eight have been an absolute blur!  Every time I sat down to create a post, something else took precedence.  Sorry Alexis, but you're getting a combo post to catch everyone up on your continued development.  #workingmomproblems #secondchildsyndrome #notenoughtimeintheday.

At her seven month check up she weighed in at 19 lbs 3.9 ounces.  We go back in October but by then she'll be nine months, so for her eight month weigh in I'd have to guess somewhere between 20 and 22lbs. At seven months she was phasing out of her 6-9 month clothing and wearing mostly 9 months items.  At eight months we're phasing out her 9 month items and moving onto her 12 months attire.  The leggings and shirt in the eight month photo are Old Navy and they are actually 12-18 month, however I feel some of Old Navy's clothes aren't necessarily true to size.  Month seven we spent using up a case of size three diapers.  Month eight we're finally comfortably in size fours and we also switched brands.  Pampers Swaddlers were always my go-to brand when Jayson was in diapers.  Lexi's got some heavier legs, however, and it seems the Huggies brand fits a little better in that regard.

Alexis is sitting up pretty well on her own now.  We've done away with the bath hammock style seat and moved on to the ring that suction cups to the bottom of the tub.  She rolls around the floor like a pro now, tummy to back and vice versa, although her preference is to be upright.  She's finally taken a liking to her walker and jumper, so long as she is bare foot or has grip socks on.  She's always liked her exersaucer, but now the walker and the jumper afford her extra movement.  Month seven she was merely going backwards in the walker.  Month eight she can get around quite well in all directions.  Time to baby proof anything within reach!

Food wise she has been eating anything categorized for "sitters:" blended baby foods, teething wafers, and puffs.  She has very good pincer capabilities and everything goes to the mouth.  She's definitely much more easily distracted now when it comes to nursing and she doesn't want to do it under cover.  We did have a few days where she went on a nursing strike.  I would pump and she'd still take the bottle but she wanted nothing to do with nursing until her eye tooth (upper canine) came in.  After that she was back to normal.  By month seven she had seven teeth: four on the bottom and three up top.  Now in month eight we have four on both top and bottom.  I can't really complain about teething with her either, there have only been a few rare occasions where I had to give her tylenol.  She's been such a champ.  She must have a high pain tolerance.  Her poor brother on the otherhand got ear infections and was a miserable mess with each tooth upon arrival.

Alexis is getting to a fun stage full of giggles, babbles and snuggles.  She loves her brother and her daddy.  She loves our dog Ace and thank goodness he's a patient dog between her grabbing and drooling.  The other day she had his ear in her mouth!  LOL.  We have noticed she has started to shy away from strangers.  She's started to become more hesitant around people who aren't part of her day-to-day, which is normal at this age.  She's also become accustomed to routine, especially at night.  Our bedtime routine includes a bath and then a book.  She loves both.  For sleep she's still pretty good about only getting once a night.  There are a few nights here and there where she'll get up more than that and it's usually attributed to a new tooth, etc.

My precious Alexis:  these days are flying by way too fast. It's exciting and saddening all at once.  In the meantime, "let me love you a little more before you're not little anymore."
