Hollowbone, crackabone, ten and eleven

Alexis: Months Ten & Eleven

"Hickery, dickery, six and seven, hollowbone, crackabone, ten and eleven..."

Gotta love a good google search when trying to come up with a title for a blog post about months ten and eleven.  The above is an snippet from "Nursery Jingles" by Clara Doty Bates.  They say you learn something new every day, and for that you're welcome. I'm compiling another two-fer blog post for Alexis because I'm way behind in getting this out there and I'm afraid I'm going to lose the little piece of paper I have with scribblings about each month.

TEN MONTHS:

Height:  28"
Weight:  20lbs 10.9oz
Clothing size:  12 months, but hedging into 18 months
Diapers:  size 5

Likes:

  • The bath tub.
  • Her brother.  Everything he does she find hilarious.  It feeds his ego and his energy levels.
  • Small finger foods (i.e. peas, crackers, pretzels, corn, peaches, etc).
  • Rocking to music.
  • Feeding the dog from her high chair.
  • Splashing in the dog's water bowl.
  • Turning on the xbox.
  • Standing.

Dislikes:

  • Car rides (still!)
  • Having her nose/face wiped.
  • Being confined (exersaucer, walker, etc).

New developments:

  • Speaking gibberish like and Ewok.
  • Putting her hands on her hips.
  • Picking things up and placing them behind her.

ELEVEN MONTHS:

Height: Guessing around 28.5" (we'll know at her 12 mos appt where we're at)
Weight: 21lbs 12.2oz
Clothing size: 18 months for the most part
Diapers: size 5

Likes:

  • Baby dolls.
  • Walking with the assistance of a push walker/cart and/or holding your hands.
  • Jayson's small upholstered chair (she'll be getting one of her own for Christmas!)
  • Climbing.
  • Scooting...fast.
  • The bath tub.
  • Shoes.
  • Hugs.  She will hug you and pat your back.

Dislikes:

  • Hair bands.
  • Longer than necessary car rides.  A short trip to daycare or the grocery store is fine.  Anything beyond that, she makes her opinion known.

 New Developments:

  • Signaling "come here" by opening and shutting her hand in your general direction.
  • Similar motion is used for "gimme" type scenarios.
  • She will tackle her brother for a non-baby sip cup.  Trust me, she knows the difference.

My dear, sweet Alexis.  With each passing day your personality continues to come through.  You crack me up and I'm always amazed at how quickly you've grown into the little human that you are.  Time goes so fast.  Selfishly I'd love to slow it down, but I'm loving each stage that you master.
