Number Nine... Take Two

Number Nine... Take Two

So... I'm backdating this post to October 4, 2017.  The actual date Alexis turned nine months.  Why?  Because life got in the way of posting in a timely fashion.  So let's get down to business before I forget anything:

Height/Weight:

At Alexis nine month well-child appointment she weighed in at 20 lb 3.5 oz and 28" long.  When looking back, she has a full pound on her brother at this stage in the game.

Medical Issues:

The day before our nine month appointment at the doctor's office, Alexis had a stomach bug.  Fortunately it was short lived and no one else in the house contracted it.  Towards the end of the month however, she'd been fighting a cough.  I took her in to be seen, but the doctor thought postnasal drip was to blame and said her lungs were clear.  Meanwhile kids were dropping left and right at daycare with Croup, so the verdict is still out if it is just "postnasal drip."

Sleep:

Alexis is a creature of habit.  We start tub time with her brother around 6:30 so that we're ready for reading and snuggle time around seven/seven-thirty.  She'll nurse and go down for a few hours, getting back up to nurse again around 10pm.  Then she's back down until around 4:30am.  The great thing about her is both wake ups involve a quick diaper change, a 10-15 min nursing session and then she's back to sleep.  She doesn't mess around.  She loves her sleep just like her mama.  On weekends she'll sleep from that 4:30 timeframe to 7:30/8am.  However, week days we usually have to get her up and moving at 6:30 to be out the door for 7am to daycare.

Clothes/Diapers (Sizes):

Alexis has been wearing pretty much 12 months clothing at this point.  Some  nine months items still fit, but for the most part she's moved on from them.  One of her Halloween costumes was actually an 18 month (and a warm one, thank goodness!) Diapers are still a size four, however our next order I've upped the size since I've noticed the fours are starting to sit lower/tighter on the hips.  She's still my little chunky monkey.

Diet:

Alexis loves to eat.  I have noticed a decrease in how many bottles she wants at daycare from 4 to 3, but she is eating stage one and stage two foods now along with baby cereals.  She is also gobbling up puffs and little crunchies.  I did find some Zwiebacks on Amazon, which she'll nibble for a while but ends up feeding to the dog.  Fortunately Ace is still his slim self.  We have also introduced her to yogurt (Stonyfield has a good one for babies!)  She has also started drinking out of a sip cup.

Milestones/Firsts:

Alexis has begun pulling herself up to stand.  She's crawling all over the place.  Her favorite places to crawl to are the dvd tower, the xbox, the dog crate, the dog food bowls, and the dog's toy bin.  Apparently all I needed to get her was a baby kong dog toy and a few dvd cases and she'd be set.  Who knew??   LOL.  I feel like she's ahead of Jayson by about a month when it comes to crawling, although at this stage Jayson had surprised us by being able to drink through a straw.

Baby Gear:

We have invested in a dual stroller after a hike around SUNY New Paltz while visiting my sister.  That has become a necessity.  We have a walker, jumper, and exersaucer, however, Alexis has never been crazy about any of these.  She's all about her floor time and having the freedom to get to whatever she wants.  We do still use her rock-and-play and the bathtub ring is still a must.  She loves her Fisher Price Bright Beats plush from Aunt Kathy and has also taken an interest in Jayson's baby doll.  I'm thinking Santa will be gifting her one of her own this year...

Likes/Dislikes:

She loves her squashes, carrots, and sweet potatoes. She thinks her brother is hilarious.  She loves chewing on everything.  She loves teasing the dog by stealing his toys.  She's not a fan of having her face washed, but she loves the bath.  She's not a fan of being restricted.  She's still not a fan of car rides... maybe when we can turn her around it'll get better??

Things I Don't Want to Forget:

She's become super vocal, especially at the dinner table.  She says Jay-Jay over and over.  She also says daddy and mama consistently.  She's begun to follow simple one word instructions like "clap" or "wave" and understands "no," although whether or not she cares you told her no is a different story.
