My poor, uncomfortable baby! |
Monday Jayson had his second round of shots. The wait time at the doctor's office was almost as unbearable as having to help hold him down. We had a 3:00pm appointment. We were taken in at 4:00pm. By 4:15pm the doctor's examination portion of the appointment was over and we were told the nurses would be in momentarily to administer Jayson's shots. Fast forward to 4:50pm and finally, after my opening the door and wandering into the hall, the nurses came to stab my beautiful baby's legs. The crying was over in a matter of minutes and he attempted to take a nap in the car. When we got home I gave Jayson a dose of Infant's Tylenol and he appeared to have a normal evening (thank God!) Aside from having to get up with him at 12am, 1am, 2am and then 5am he did much better this time around! The last time we had shots he screamed from 8pm to 10pm and ended up with the runs and a temp.
Happier items to report from this appointment: despite the long wait he was all smiles, rolling around on the table and kicking his feet on the sterile paper they put beneath him. He must have really liked the crinkly sound it made because he was channeling his inner Fred Astaire the whole time. The doctor said he was very strong for his age. He is in the 50th percentile for height, weight and head circumference this go around. He's 13lb 13oz and 24.5 inches long. Very proportional but no longer 85th percentile for height...bummer, we thought he was going to be tall. We go back in October. I'll be interested to see if he continues to gain an inch and 2lbs per month which seems to be his pattern.
