Bananas

Our Friday night started with a comedy show at Waterworks.  For those of you from the Albany area: yes, I know it's a gay bar.  Truthfully, I find it a little disturbing how many people asked me that when I said that's where we were going.  At any rate, five comedians performed in their upstairs lounge to benefit The Sexual Assault & Crime Victim's Assistance Program of Rensselaer County.   Truth be told, we had a blast.  Afterwards we met up with an old friend over at the Black Bear and shared a pitcher of Blue Moon.  We were in good company since the local Mayor was there along with Jeff the bouncer, Bernie the creepy cab guy, my new friend Lauren (aka Aunt Imelda) and Mary the Clairvoyant.  Mary, who's psychic abilities are limited to her alcohol consumption, informed Jeff and I that we were apparently long lost soul mates.  That got a good laugh out of our group.  It was just about then that she called it a night and asked the creepy cab guy, Bernie, to take her home.  Not long after we decided to head out as well.

Saturday we had to pick up our contacts and glasses from Empire Vision, afterwards we did some shopping for our upcoming trip and grabbed a few last minute items for Easter dinner.  It was kind of a low key day which was nice, considering I had a delayed hangover hit me around 2pm.  We both got our second wind around supper time and decided to do the next installment of Justin's Insanity program.  He hasn't missed a day yet and wasn't due for a rest day until Sunday.  All I can say is I'm glad I don't do this daily.  My calves are killing me today which is a full 2 days later and I'm walking like a pirate with two peg legs.  It's terrible really.  A sure sign of old age.

Sunday turned out to be a great day.  We did some housecleaning before the family headed over for supper.  I tried out three new recipes and had success with each of them.  Homemade creamed spinach, scalloped potatoes with Gruyere, and a Banana Split Brownie Pie.  I would tweak the pie to have a softer brownie component, however it tasted good none the less and was certainly not on my diet.  I have to admit that Justin did the majority of the work making the pie which was totally hot and earned him brownie points (pun most certainly intended).  Not to mention he was rocking his pink dress shirt and new glasses.  Can we say Clark Kent?

Other high points of the weekend included Riley's continued good mood and the use of self-tanner without resembling Snooki or an Oomp-Loompa.  Sorry, I just realized my references were redundant.  My point is, we didn't turn orange.  Matter of fact, Justin's fake tan looks quite natural and I'm finally a shade darker than the Cullen family.  Thank you Jergens Natural Glow.

Who wants to share Insanity stories, recipes, or fake tanner tips?  Contrary to popular belief, leaving a comment does not cause cancer.
