Fun-loving FIVE!

Wait...what?!  Jayson's FIVE??!!

Oh. My. Gosh.  I have a five year old.  He's the spitting image of his father at this age and acts just like him too!  I'm in for it when he hits his teens.  Heck, I'm in for it now.   You've converted to the dark side, you're a daddy's boy.  I get it though, mommy is frequently busy with Alexis but that doesn't mean that I don't still crave cuddles with my little dude.  I'm also the "disciplinarian" while daddy's your bff, so I get that too.  I cannot begin to describe how immensely proud I am of you though at this point in your little life.  You are a dynamite big brother (I just love how sweet you are to Lexi) and you are rocking pre-k.  This year has been a big one for you.  You started school like a champ, you ride the bus (complete with transfers!), and now you're playing tee ball.  We completed Kindergarten registration (so surreal) and now we're counting down to summer after a month of birthday activities.  Yes, a month.  You had your kiddie party on the 6th with your closest friends at the local roller rink and our family party is the 20th.  So when it's all said and done, let's recap what five looks like for you Jayson:

Moves Like Jagger

Have you missed me??  Sorry for the no-show on 8/16, things got a little hectic.  We're prepping for the return of students and faculty so my days have been jam packed.  All I can say is thank god for www.pandora.com.  It really helps in crunch times like this.  "Moves Like Jagger" has been playing quite a bit and I think it's a real pick-me-up.  I feel energized when listening to it.  It could easily be the top song of 2011's summer.

Here are some of my favorites from past summers:
  • 2010 - Bulletproof, Meet Me Halfway, and California Girls.  These songs make me think of our trip to Ocean City, NJ.
  • 2009 - Calle Ocho & Party in the USA.  Anything by Pitbull makes me think of my friend Danielle and as much as I don't want to admit I liked Miley's song, it was a fun summer-type song.
  • 2008 - Don't Stop the Music, Paralyzer, and Summertime.  Who doesn't like a NKOTB song??
  • 2007 - Beautiful Girls, Last Night, and Bubbly. I think Justin still has Sean Kingston's cd in his car... may have to swipe it from him and jam out to it.
  • 2006 - Buttons and You're Beautiful.  I was in love with James Blunt for that entire summer.  It just spoke to my heart.  What can I say?  I'm a hopeless romantic.
Ok, I think that's enough.  I can't think much farther back (sucky part of getting old...memory loss). What are some of your favorite songs from prior years?  Do you prefer to work in silence or with some form of music on?

The Shoes Have It

My husband and I attended the CRUSH 105.7FM VIP party at Vapor Night Club in Saratoga on Saturday.  Friends of ours had won tickets and were in the drawing for their Cruise Giveaway.  Sadly they did not win, but we had a great time anyway.  I must say that coming up on our thirties, it's nice to find an age appropriate night scene.   The music was the perfect blend of today's top hits and music from our younger years.  We also weren't surrounded by college kids just looking to get completely obliviated and hook up.  We were partying with folks our own age who knew their drinking limits and were just there to have a good time.  One word comes to mind: refreshing.  It also didn't hurt my ego to be one of the youngest ladies on the dance floor, just saying.

As nice as this club was, it still proved fun to people watch.  My friends and I came up with our own code words for certain people throughout the night.  There was Soccer Mom Turned Party Girl, Creepy Guy, Ronnie Wannabe (Jersey Shore reference), and last but not least White Shorts Girl
