Odd News
- Has eating vegetables always been a hassle for you? Fear no more! According to Sara Cann of Men's Health you should stare at a T-Steak prior to eating the loathed item of vegetation. I must say nothing makes me crave broccoli more than a T-Steak... not. If this works for you, I'd like to hear about it.
- A new study published in the American Sociological Review reveals that breast feeding hurts moms' income. The study’s lead author, Phyllis L.F. Rippeyoung, weighs in that she couldn't pump and work at the same time. The study revealed that on average women who breast-fed their babies experienced decrease in income, however, in the article I'm hard pressed to see how this is directly correlated to breast feeding specifically. New mothers typically take Family Medical Leave (unpaid) for upwards of 12 weeks following the birth of a child, so whether there is breast feeding involved or not there is certainly a drop in income. Additionally, many mothers return to work at lesser hours than before because they want to be with their baby not specifically because of breast feeding, so there is a reduction in income there. I also find it hard to believe that pumping/work would be a factor on income since there have been many advances made in the ways that breast milk can be extracted and stored (even frozen) for use at your convenience. Any breast feeding mothers, please weigh in here.
- And lastly, something to write home about. Zachary P. Ramirez was cited for doing 111 miles per hour, disobeying traffic devices, and for possession of marijuana. His reasoning? Rushing to have sex with a girl he liked. I'm sure his parents are proud that this is what their son Zach made headlines for. Good luck with future job hunts. How'd you like to be the girl on the other end of that story?
