Demo

Demo.  Short for Demolition.  Both a noun and an adjective which capture fully the state of my life right now.  Ever since we moved in to the new house we have had these elaborate plans to finish the upstairs so that we could expand our family, if you know what I mean.

So in the first two years one we found out just how fun it was to remove layers (plural) of wallpaper, to spackle (less is more), and to prime/paint.  We mastered the art of changing out light fixtures, electrical outlets, light switches, thermostats and also how to create a textured ceiling.

Well, in year three we mastered the art of installing shut-offs and began demolition to the upstairs bathroom this weekend.  It seemed to have gone rather smoothly, until a leak made itself known in the ceiling of our downstairs bathroom.  Thank goodness one of Justin's best friends is a contractor and he was able to locate and stop the leak for us late Sunday evening.  But now we have two bathrooms in a state of demolition.

I guess I have to look on the bright side.  We wanted to redo both bathrooms eventually, however it looks like we'll be learning the ins-and-outs of a bathroom remodel times two which comes with twice the cost.   It's time to start playing the lotto.  To whatever higher power exists:  a little help here or a break would be much appreciated.

  1. Oh no! Best of luck to you. I have only one bathroom, in desperate need of a remodel. I have been putting it off for years due to severe lack of funds, but I fear that it will soon become inevitable that I need to just bite the bullet and get it done.
